History

In the Fall of 2004 the CCHS Solar Car Team began designing and building their first solar-powered car (Tushka Hashi I). The team participated in the 2005 Dell-Winston Solar Car Challenge which ran from Round Rock, Texas to Pasadena, California. In the fall of 2005 the team rebuilt the car to make it more efficient (Tushka Hashi II).
The rebuild resulted in a 2nd place trophy in the 2006 Dell-Winston Solar Car Challenge, Classic Division. In 2010 the team built a completely new, more efficient car (Tushka Hashi III) utilizing the latest in solar cell technology and composite materials.
In 2010, 2012, 2014 Tushka Hashi III won the National High School Championship.
In 2013 the team raced in the World Solar Challenge in Australia.

The Choctaw Tribal School System wanted to launch an education program to provide high school students curriculum materials and workshop opportunities outside the normal classroom setting that would motivate students in math, science, engineering, and technology.
